I just read “We learn from direct experience only” from Anon on Twitter.
And realised that I have the best outcomes with my therapy clients when we do direct experiential work. So when I ask them to repeat after me ‘I love you, I’m here for you, you’re safe’ with their hand on their chest/hearts it has an impact.
Or doing the senses gate with them, what do you see, hear etc
Or the dropping into the body exercise to feel the feelings…
Or a body scan…
High impact stuff. I have been doing it and also feeling a bit self conscious about doing it. I don’t know why but I’m going to enquire within.
I notice I rush a bit, and could linger more.
