I’ve been working on the positive self affirmation list and added in more choices after getting some feedback. Some were finding that saying ‘I love you’ to themselves felt untruthful when they don’t fully feel it.
Others were okay with saying it regardless of not feeling it fully and able to connect to the part of themselves inside where it feels true. I’m okay with it personally, even though I’m not fully loving myself yet.
I was taking a bit of an uncompromising stance on it as I consider us all to be lovable, good enough, worthy of care, respect etc whether there’s some resistance or not. The part that doesn’t believe it is mistaken anyway imo, old faulty conditioning.
So I was reading a book by Louise Hay and she suggested starting with a statement of intention first to help make it more accessible. The book suggested just saying the first bit for a while is enough to get going.
I want to learn to like you – I am learning to like you – I like you
